Registered Dietitian Nutritionist

Jennifer Diggs, Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and Board Certified Health Coach serving the Kansas City area

What is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist?

A Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) is a health professional who has training and practice in nutrition, food, and diet. Becoming a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist requires a lot of work:

  • Earning a bachelor’s degree with coursework in food, nutrition, and science;

  • Completing 1200+ hours of supervised work in a relevant, work setting;

  • Passing a national exam.

What’s the difference between a Dietitian and a Nutritionist?

Basically, anyone can call themselves a nutritionist regardless of training or education. Some people who call themselves nutritionists really are experts, but many are not. A Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, on the other hand, must complete formal education, practical training, and national certification before they can use that title.

Nutrition Counseling

Your body and microbiome are unique, so your nutritional plan should be too. Depending on your needs and circumstance, nutritional counseling services may include:

  • Food sensitivities history

  • Menu planning

  • Recipe suggestions

  • Supplements

My Qualifications

In addition to being a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN), I am also a board-certified health coach (NBC-HWC). I’m also an avid trail runner, an ultra-marathoner, and an all-around fitness enthusiast. When I’m not working, cooking, hanging with my partner and my dogs, you’ll usually find me in the gym or on the trails of Kansas City.
