Jennifer Diggs, Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and Board Certified Health Coach
Lovely to meet you…I’m Jennifer Diggs (she/her). I’m a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist based in Kansas City, MO. I’m also a Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach. I’ve worked in a broad spectrum of settings that I won’t bore you with. LinkedIn traces the map of the journey that led me to open Grateful Carrot, but I’m much more excited about my (and your) future.
When I broadened my focus beyond nutrition and trained as a health coach, it emphasized something that was rarely mentioned in my old healthcare stomping grounds. Behavior change doesn’t suddenly happen with a prescription or a diet plan or a gym membership. This has led me to focus on understanding the science behind the magic that is finding our why, then actually preparing ourselves for the journey with knowledge and support. This reflects that we are intertwined with ourselves — we can’t change one part/habit/behavior without affecting the others. Evolution, genetics, and trauma are big players here too. Sure, we all acknowledge that the way we eat can influence the way we feel, but what about how we sleep? Handle stress? And anyone who has ever eaten half a watermelon shortly before doing yoga can confirm that what we put in our bodies directly affects how we move.
So when you begin working with me, you will be asked about your whole self, your relationships with friends, your work, and your hobbies. You will be seen as a whole damn human long before I might suggest you eat an apple or take a walk. I might even encourage you to take a nap.
When I’m not talking about eating or moving, I’m usually eating or moving. I enjoy cooking (usually), and my social hour is generally a morning run with friends. I live with my partner of 15 years in a 130-year-old home in the Kansas City urban core with two dogs and cat, who are arguably spoiled far more than the three humans I made who are now amazing adults.
